Remembering Home Away From Home

August 31, 2007

Loyalty.

I lump that together with honesty and integrity because to me they’re what loyalty boils down to, whether it’s with friends or otherwise. Why am I going on about this? It’s because something today really made me contemplate the concept of it.

Star light, Star bright…

August 18, 2007

Something was stirring.

He didn’t know what exactly was on the move or why exactly he had to be there, only that things were about to heat up. Fast.

He looked up at the stars that night. He thought back to when he was younger, he and his friend would climb the tallest tress and watch the night sky for hours on end. He remembered how they both would look their hardest for shooting stars, so that their greatest wishes would be granted.

At the time, those wishes consisted of a everlasting triple scoop ice cream cone and the latest games, both of these would always seem like treasure on some distant island where no man dare travel to. He thought that actually, that everlasting ice cream would be nice right about now.

Then slowly, like always, the memories faded and he found himself pulled back to the present. However, unlike all those other times he was pulled back and reminded that he was an adult, he found himself at the stars and wishing once more. Wishing some herald from the heavens would tell him why this impulse was driving him crazy. Wishing that he knew why the hell he had to be there. Wishing that he knew why exactly she left him after all these years…

All of this, rushing through his mind like images of time lapsed traffic as he threw back another can of wannabe green tea to finish it off.

The only voice to reply to his wish was his own as he muttered another reminder to himself about how the canned green tea tastes like heated up cologne. Almost a memo to himself for future reference.

Tossing the can aside, his source of nourishment now depleted, all he could do was look to the skyline. Back to square one, he thought.

Back to waiting under the stars.

(LIVE) HONEY FLASH!

August 1, 2007

That’s right folks! We’re getting a 25 episode live action Cutie Honey TV series! Called Cutie Honey THE LIVE, the series features Kohei Murakami (Best known for playing Kusaka in Kamen Rider 555) and  action direction by Makoto Yokyama (PRLR, Wicked Game, Mirai Ninja) and the one and only Mark Musashi (GARO, Sh15ya).

So okay amidst all the cool things we’re hearing about this, there’s only one thing that worries me; Toshiki “King Emo” Inoue is Series Planner and Writer.

Right away I envision another angsty Eva ending ala the last live action incarnation directed by Hideaki Anno. Please, Toshiki, don’t screw this one up, you did enough damage to Hibiki. (At least this means we don’t have to worry about him mucking up Den-O then ^_^)

In the meantime, we’re just going to have to hold our breath and wait until the October 10th premiere (At 1 AM O_O) on TV Tokyo. Click the pic to check out the official site which doesn’t really have anything up save for the pic.

Till the next, courage.

Giga Wrench Breaker

August 1, 2007

Whoa…here’s an entry I wrote awhile back, saved, but never posted. It’s a bit outdated as it was written a week after the VT Shooting but I still think it’s interesting.

Last week I found out that I’m getting the whole place to myself as my folks are going off on a much needed vacation. Like most guys in my age range, the first things to come to mind were Party and Weekend with the Significant Other.

Right away I knew that the party wouldn’t be happening (I only have about 4 people left in town to hang out with that aren’t too busy, getting knocked up and/or getting married) so I pushed for the latter option. Flash forward to this week. The ‘rents were leaving tomorrow and it seemed like that she might actually be able to make it. However, there was a last minute snag. Tires got slashed on the car, fun times. So, unless it’s possible to make a two hour trip on slashed tires without the aide of magic, it looks like the trip will be put off for a bit whilest I spend this weekend playing the Halo 3 beta nonstop (and pray that I don’t kill my XBOX in the process).

The point of this story? It sucks when you’re close to getting something you really want and someone/thing throws a wrench into the works and ruins everything. Not just in the terms of relationships and long weekends either, just anything really. Case in point; the VT shooting and how exactly it blew the chances of alot of wonderful things happening this summer.

Now now, don’t get angry now, I’m not going to be all “OMG! VT IS STUPID!”, just click after the jump and let me explain why it sucks.
