If you claim to be a Tokusatsu fan then stop what you’re doing.
Take out your iPod/Zune/Other MP3 player, CD Player. I know you have it nearby, especially if you’re at school or work reading this. Go ahead, I’ll wait.
Got it. Good. Now take a good close look at it. Really study the details of your purchase. Done?
Now bash your head into it really hard three times. Then do it another two times just for kicks.
Why am I asking you to abuse yourselves? Because you keep asking and begging for Tokusatsu releases in the states and when it finally happens, you never lift a finger to buy it. Don’t try to defend yourself, I know you’ve still got that horribly subbed TVN copy of Kamen Rider The First on your hard drive and you’re too cheap to go out and actually buy the Media Blasters release.
You’re part of the reason why chances are slim of the sequel getting released. You’re also part of the reason why the first major release from BCI/Ronin, Iron King isn’t doing so hot and why we many never get another big US release ever again.
Ah, the day before December 1st. Here in Wisconsin, it can only mean that once again Nature doesn’t have to tease anymore and can finally unleash its full non-snowing winter fury. With Christmas quickly approaching, I can only hope that we do get some snow for the season as we got screwed out of that one last year. At the same time though, I’m hoping that we don’t get caught in 6 inches of snow as I’ll be the one that has to dig the house out.
So as I sit here anticipating the Great Blizzard of 07, here’s this week’s installment of Friday ACE:
Igadevil found this awesome Kamen Rider music video featuring the final episodes of the original TV series set to an awesome tune by TWO-MIX. May contain spoilers so beware.
So I finally got my hands on a copy of the martial arts classic, Kenka Karate Kyokushin Ken or Karate Bullfighter…
…And I’m watching the scene in the office after Oyama, played by Sonny Chiba, has pretty much owned the guy who would have been the number one Karate Champion in Japan if he hadn’t shown up.
Long and short of it, he’s offered a place at the Cobra Kai Big Expensive Karate Gym because of his stellar performance but declines, going on about how something needs to be done with Karate and soon, otherwise it’ll become nothing more than a dance.
Believe it or not, when I did a search for Kamen Rider and Thanksgiving, that turned up. Doesn’t change the fact that I think that movie was garbage.
So much like the Go Bots, Fox TV Shows during the 90’s, and all those Tamogotchi rip offs, Thanksgiving has come and gone. Hopefully you guys and gals had enough fiber in your system to survive the aftermath, especially today with those crazed people out on the streets at 4 AM for the phenomenon that is Black Friday. If not, hopefully this week’s installment of Friday ACE should help you ride it out.
Danny Choo - Master of one of the most awesome blogs on the net. The man behind the mask of Japan’s infamous Storm Trooper cosplayer. And most of all, a man with the badassery of 17 Sonny Chiba clones who proved this as he danced all around Shibuya one legendary night.
Yōichi Yonehata, a 23-year-old unemployed man, was charged in Tokyo’s Edogawa Ward on November 14 for stealing 101 volumes of manga. The suspect reportedly said, “I’m in deep debt, so I was going to resell the books back to used bookstores.” He is suspected of stealing Detective Conan, Hana Yori Dango, and other manga worth about 60,000 yen (US$500) from the Tsutaya’s main Edogawa store on November 3 between 4:20 and 4:40 p.m. He allegedly took about 50 volumes out of the store in a plastic bag, hid them in a parking lot, and then went back to get more. He was caught when a nearby bicycle store’s employee spotted him.
…I want to be glad that they caught him but I’m impressed that he managed to make it out with that many volumes without getting caught (at first).
Lesson learned: Doesn’t matter if you’re rich or not, greed gets your arse caught.
