FRIDAY ACE: “Violence Against Color” Edition – Week of 3/23/08

I was going to post this last week before I got sick. Anyways, Kazuo Umezu, famous horror manga-ka, had his dream house finally completed last week.

I love the people that are trying to complain about it. Favorite complaint is the one that this week’s edition is named after;

“It’s a violence against color…a violence against style…”

If I were him, I’d be taking that as the compliment to end all compliments. Umezu’s such an awesome guy that I bet he’s thought that already. See for yourself if you don’t believe me.

And now, this week’s Friday ACE.

-First off, we’re getting a fscking Blade of the Immortal anime!

Premiering this summer on AT-X, the anime version of Blade of the Immortal stars Tomokazu Seki as the voice of Manji, the badass samurai who can’t die until he’s killed 1000 evil men and Rina Satou as Rin, his traveling companion. Boasting Character Designs by Yoshimitsu Yamashita of Samurai Champloo fame and Music by the on and only Ko Otani, this show looks to be the savior to my summer boredom.

-I know I’m sorta jumping the gun here on the Tangent side of things but here’s a cool little Tarantino tribute vid. What? Can’t I post it?

-While roaming around on Youtube for indie tokusatsu flicks, I came across the following trailer of awesomeness.

Entitled Garudas, this live action mecha series looks rather badass and I wish that I could get my hands on a copy >_<

Shoko Nakagawa, aka Shokotan (bka Person Who I Want To Interview VERY Badly For R5) has been announced as the musical guest for Anime Expo 2008.

Just further proof that the universe hates me.

-This is going to be hard to type as I’m going to be resisting the urge to violently upchuck after hearing this bit of depressing news. The production team for the new Golgo 13 series has been announced. Osamu Dezukai and Akio Sugino aren’t on it. Why you may ask?

Because they’re doing a…an animated Ultraviolet sequel…..

No wait, it gets worse. Masao Murayama from Madhouse is producing it. Actually Madhouse will be animating the whole thing. And Sony Entertainment is involved. Oh god. I can’t keep my dinner down anymore….

*Mike quickly runs out of the room and slams the bathroom door behind him as he rushes in*

-To all Ninjas in Japan, you’re getting free train rides for showing yourself.

From Japan Probe

IGA, Mie — Passengers dressed in ninja costumes will be given free travel along the Iga Tetsudo line from April 1 to May 6 to mark the city’s popular ninja festival, railroad officials said.

Iga Tetsudo, which took over the running of the old Kintetsu Iga Line in October last year, is making the offer as part of the Iga Ueno Ninja Festa, a festival that celebrates the Mie Prefecture city’s links with the ancient stealth art of ninjutsu.

Each year, the festival is held centered on Iga’s main districts, with ninja being the focus. Most events have a ninja theme, including the chance to try out ninja shuriken throwing stars. One of the more popular attractions at the festival is the practice of lending out ninja costumes and it is quite common to see families with everyone walking around the streets in ninja garb during the festival period.

Points go to any readers out there that are going to be there who take pics :P

-Kotaku pointed out a clip of a union only thought of in your wildest dreams. Oh come on, I’m sure you’ve thought of this:

That’s right, Beatmania Pachislots. Now all I’m waiting for is the Pump It Up Roullete game.

-Oh and finally, go out and buy 5 Centimeters Per Second. Now.
