Being a Michael Jackson fan since I was a kid–and throughout the years, even in spite of all the allegations and controversies–I, too felt a major loss at the time of his death. However, I still don’t know how to feel about this.
I can guess they’re trying to make back the money that was lost in the “This is It” tour. At the same time, apparently they were already shooting this footage for a DVD of the concert so this was coming out regardless. I’m going to have to see it, considering it’s the closest I’ll ever get to a Michael Jackson concert, but it still feels too soon to be cashing in on his death, right?
I know a new biopic is already in the works; Hollywood is desperate and uncreative right now, of COURSE they’ve already been developing it. It’ll backfire, burnout, cause all sorts of backlash from the fans and media, maybe even piss of the surviving Jackson family members. Still, at least we’ll get one decent film that’ll do him justice before all the BS starts.
